Patrick grew up in a military family and lived in several states and foreign countries. He graduated from Emporia State University, Emporia, KS with a BSB degree and subsequently served as an officer in the U. S. Navy. His real estate career began in Denver in the 1970’s, where he was involved in banking, commercial leasing and property management, both in executive and sales capacities.
In the late 80’s, he was sales manager for a New Mexico home builder, assisting many people with financing and construction of their new homes. Mortgage financing became a passion for the next several years as he continued his focus of helping consumers purchase homes. New construction financing was a specialty, although he originated hundreds of mortgage loans, of various types, in New Mexico and later for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage in Durango. He moved to the Durango area in 1996 from Santa Fe. He is single and has 2 sons, who live with their families in the Denver area.
More recently, he developed a small, luxury subdivision north of Durango and currently serves as an owner, President of the homeowner’s association and head of architectural control.
Patrick helped me purchase a home that had some challenging circumstances. He went far past the normal expectations of what a I would expect a realtor to provide. He patiently walked me through all the necessary steps including updates and help with deadlines. He had suggestions, great recommendations and was invaluable in the final negotiations. A man of high integrity and now a friendship that I value greatly.
Patrick's breadth of experience is what I appreciated most when he helped us buy a house. In addition to his current role of helping people buy and sell their property, he's previously worked in the mortgage industry helping people get financed (so he probably understands the financing piece more than the average realtor) and he's developed a neighborhood before (so he may understand construction and entitlements more than the average realtor).
This range of experience is especially key for those moving from outside of the community (or moving into a more rural/mountain setting than they've previously experienced).
For us, with various properties in various parts of town, Patrick made observations about whether the roof and/or driveway were likely to get enough direct sun to melt away the snow, whether the well situation looked reliable, that a house showed signs that we may want a structural engineer to look at the foundation before we even had the initial inspection, the reputation a particular HOA has for being strict or relaxed, and notes about how well dirt/gravel roads tend to be maintained throughout the year by the various HOAs.
Patrick Jones is by far the best realtor I have ever been associated with. He is very knowledgeable of the real estate market in and around the Durango, Co. area. He pays great attention to the small details that sometimes gets omitted. He always takes his clients best interest as his own. Patrick is not only a top notch professional, he is also a fine gentleman. He gave absolute attention to the sale of our property from start to finish.
I would totally recommend Patrick.
